As a passionate lover of food, wine and everything that surrounds it, I was always fascinated by the magic of blends. The complexity of 'Ras el hanout' (Moroccan spice mix), a Thai Red curry sauce or a classic French Bordeaux wine - they all share the magic of blending ingredients to form something spectacular. My travels around the world and my exposure to the food industry helped shape my philosophy that a recipe should always be more than the sum of its parts. I also discovered (the hard way) that sometimes a recipe is improved by leaving something out, rather than adding it.
I have tremendous respect for the wine industry and what it takes to make wine. I am not a wine maker, wine farmer or even a wine expert - I am merely a fortunate wine lover with an opportunity to make up my own blends from a selection of quality wines. I tip my hat to the wine makers and farmers that provide me with the beautiful 'ingredients' to blend my wines.
It all started in 2015, with 300 bottles of a Shiraz Blend called 'Harde Feite' (translates to 'Hard Facts'), followed by similar styles in ‘Ipso Facto' in 2016 and 'Plan B' (now affectionately known as Plan A) in 2017. The 2018 'Plan B' was a departure from the norm and for the first time I added 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is also the first wine with enough volume to be made commercially available. This blend is also very unique in that contains some of each of all the other predecessors.
